Idaho Statesman - Wine Spectator rates Idaho wine

7/16/2013

It's been a long time coming. Finally the most powerful wine publication in the world - Wine Spectator - is recognizing Idaho wine.

Three of winemaker Greg Koenig's vintages for his family's Koenig Distillery and Winery received 90-plus ratings: The 2010 Cabernet-Syrah Blend, Riesling Ice Wine and Three Vineyard Cuvee Syrah.

"We immediately started getting calls from Washington D.C., New York and Hong Kong," Koenig says. "A 90-plus wine for under $40 is a rarity."

Koenig's wines sell for between $20 and $25. You can find them at area wine shops such as the Boise Co-op, select Albertsons and Fred Meyer stores and, of course, the Koenig winery tasting room, 20928 Grape Lane, Caldwell.
